In the western world, where science has supposedly triumphed over faith, many Christians lack understanding of the spiritual world and the supernatural.
Kids are now taught from a young age that mankind evolved over billions of years from some sort of primordial soup. As a consequence, many people in western countries are often dismissive of the supernatural and spiritual. Given the dramatic rise of spiritual shows on TV (Medium, Harry Potter, and many more), it should be obvious that, despite the claims of some scientists, the world is far more spiritually inclined than we realise.
The Bible has always taught that there is both a natural and a spiritual world. In fact, the Bible makes it clear that the spiritual world has a profound impact on the natural world.
Consider this passage:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:2
So what does this have to do with business?
If you want to have a business that advances God’s kingdom, you will experience the impact of the spiritual realm on a regular basis. The last thing the Devil wants is for God’s kingdom to prosper. If you are serious about advancing God’s kingdom, you will meet with resistance and will face struggles. The more impactful you become, the more challenges you are likely to face. The reason so many Christians face limited spiritual resistance in business is because they have so little desire to “seek first his kingdom”. They are just going about their business without the hunger to see God’s kingdom established on earth.
The Solution for Kingdom Entrepreneurs!
The good news is that we have the ultimate business partner. God wants us to thrive and to use our businesses to glorify him. Here is why you need to partner with God daily:
- He is 100% trustworthy – he asks us to lean on him.
- He has unlimited ideas and wisdom – he created the world didn’t he?
- He has unlimited ability to protect.
- He has unlimited ability to provide.
- He gives us the ability to gain wealth (Deut 8:17-18)
- He never fails or gives up
Now that is someone I want to partner with! But the question is how……….
The Secret to Kingdom Business
The secret is no secret at all!
God created mankind to have fellowship with him. In Genesis 3:8, we read how God was walking in the Garden of Eden during the evening breeze, spending time with Adam & Eve. He was ‘hanging’ with mankind, so to speak.
Unfortunately for us, Adam and Eve went astray and as they say: ‘the rest is history’. Thankfully, Jesus came to earth to restore all that went wrong and enabled us to have fellowship with God.
Therefore, the key to doing business supernaturally, is to spend time with God. Intimacy with God will help you build a true kingdom business. What does it mean to have intimacy with God?
Put simply, it means devoting time each day to worshipping God, praying, reading the word and listening to that still voice.
Two of the most successful Christian business people I know, take a full day off each week to spend time with God. That’s right, they give up 20% of their working week to spend it with him. They tell me very clearly that, the apparent loss of 20% of their time is made up in amazing ways with the wisdom and ideas that God reveals to them.
I don’t want you to think this is about “Getting from God”, where you enter a transactional relationship. You just put in the time and he puts in the ideas?! This is about genuinely spending time with your Father in Heaven. It is about partnering with the King of Kings to advance his kingdom here on earth. It is not about you fulfilling a selfish ambition.
Hearing from God
Doing business supernaturally means to learn to listen to God.
Many Christians struggle in this area:
- Possibly, because there is so little teaching on the subject; or
- Maybe it’s due to fear about whether they are simply hearing their own thoughts rather than God’s.
It is an absolute “must” for you to build your intimacy with God and partner with him to build your kingdom business.
Here is what God’s word says about hearing from God:
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
John 10:27
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 16:13
Spend time with God each day, meditate on his word, and take the time to listen.
What Happens?
When we learn to do business supernaturally here is what we can expect:
- The Holy Spirit Guides – Involve God in your decisions. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.
- Instructions, affirmations, discipline, word from God – The word of God provides us with an insight into how to conduct our business. When we listen to God during our quiet times, we can hear his soft voice leading
- Dreams & Visions – We all experience dreams, but many Christians will tell you that God has communicated with them during their dreams. Interestingly, one of the main causes of conversions of Muslims to Christianity, is Jesus appearing to them in a dream.
- Godly Counsel – Business is not to be done alone. Seek God for his wisdom and spend time with mature Christians seeking their advice.
- Remove fear and replace it with faith & trust.
Building intimacy with God will be one of the best life decisions you will ever make!
