17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

Ultimately, wealth is created by business. When we get up each morning heading to work to use our God-given ingenuity to create products and services, we are producing wealth for society. Think of the Apple Corporation. It was started in a home garage and has grown into a business worth close to a trillion dollars. Not only has it produced enormous wealth for its owners, its products aid millions of people around the world in their business endeavors. In reality its true impact is largely immeasurable.
Now imagine for a moment that wealth in the hands of people who love God. Think of where that wealth could be directed, the people that could be helped, and the people who could hear the gospel for the first time. Sadly the Church has often painted wealth in a negative light. Our purpose in life is not to accumulate wealth, but rather to steward it in such a way that advances God’s kingdom.
My prayer for you reading this is that your business will generate vast wealth that can be stewarded towards kingdom purposes. I pray that whatever God puts in your hands will be used as a tool that can change culture, transform lives and fund the great commission.
There is really only one problem with wealth and that is the risk that it comes between you and your relationship with God. It is a well trodden path, where a person becomes successful, builds wealth, then becomes prideful and believes they no longer need God, whether they consciously think this or not.
Arguably western civilization which was built on the bedrock of Christianity has forgotten that wealth and the ability to produce it comes from God himself.
