Step 3: The Debt Plan
Pay off every debt and stay financially free for the years ahead
The Debt Plan gives you a proven method to eliminate every debt you carry. "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7). You'll list every debt, prioritize it, and pay it off using the debt snowball method, distinguishing consumer debt, mortgage debt, and strategic business debt.
Debt limits what you can give, save, and build. Every dollar going to interest is a dollar that can't go toward your future. This step also answers a question many Christians ask directly: is paying off your mortgage early biblical? (Proverbs 24:27)
Debt moves money away from you instead of toward you. Removing it frees every dollar you earn to go toward investing, giving, and building your future instead of paying down your past.
It's a payoff strategy where you list all your debts, then pay them off in order, smallest to largest, while celebrating each one paid off as a step of progress and faithfulness.
This step addresses that question directly using Proverbs 24:27 as a framework, but the answer depends on your full financial picture. It's covered in detail inside the Debt Plan.
Consumer debt (credit cards, personal loans) works against you through interest with no return. Strategic business debt can be a tool for growth. This step teaches you to tell the difference and treat each one accordingly.
The plan is sequential by design, Steps 1 through 4 come first so your foundation is solid. Getting your debt under control here means the money you invest later isn't working against interest payments at the same time.
